The Fake Promise of 'Roti, Kapra, aur Makaan'

For more than fifty years, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has used one slogan to get votes: "Roti, Kapra, aur Makaan" (Bread, Clothing, and Shelter). Poor people, farmers, and factory workers gave their blood for this slogan. They stood in the hot sun to vote. They trusted their leaders. But what did the Awam (public) get in return? Nothing but lies, hunger, and empty pockets. Today, that old slogan is completely dead. It has been replaced by a new, shameful reality for the waderas (feudal lords) in power: "Castles, Crowns, and White European Wives." The news that 38-year-old Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is secretly planning to marry a European princess, Gloria von Habsburg, is not just internet gossip. It is a tight, burning slap on the face of every poor Pakistani. While the jiyalas (party workers) are struggling to buy a single bag of flour, their "prince" is busy trying to join a royal family in Austria. This shows how fake our leaders are. They stand on stages in Sindh wearing traditional clothes, acting like they care about the soil. But inside their minds, they do not belong to Pakistan. They want to be European royalty. They use the blood of the poor to build their own castles far away from the heat and dust of the country they rule.

Wasting Public Money for Private Aiyashi

The anger of the nation boiled over when the President's office proudly announced on August 27, 2026, that President Asif Ali Zardari had gone abroad on a "private visit." Let us be very clear: in a poor, broken country like Pakistan, there is no such thing as a private visit for the President. When a Head of State flies to Europe-specifically to a rich, tax-free country like Liechtenstein-he does not fly like a normal person.

  • The VIP Jets: He takes expensive flights.

  • The Security: He takes an army of guards.

  • The Hotels: He stays in luxury rooms that cost millions of rupees a night.

  • The Protocol: He uses state machinery to set up his meetings.

And who pays for this massive aiyashi (enjoyment and luxury)? The poor taxpayer. The shopkeeper in Karachi. The farmer in Punjab. The laborer in Peshawar. "Every time you pay a heavy tax on your electricity bill, remember that your money is not fixing your roads. Your money is paying for VIP trips to Europe so our elite can arrange royal weddings." It is total madness. The public money is being looted and used as a personal ATM. While our country begs the IMF (International Monetary Fund) for loans just to survive, our rulers are spending millions of dollars in Europe. They are showing the world that Pakistan is poor, but Pakistan's leaders are richer than kings. This is sick, and it is a crime against the Awam.

Selling Our Pride for a Foreign Identity

Why an Austrian princess? Why a European? This question exposes the dirty truth about our ruling class. They have a massive inferiority complex. They rule over Pakistanis, but they think Pakistanis are below them. They think local people are only good enough to be their servants, their voters, and their tax-payers. When it comes to sharing their bloodline, they look toward the white, European elite. The rumor that Bilawal was going to marry the great-great-granddaughter of the last Emperor of Austria shows that our leaders want to buy white validation. They are ready to sell our national dignity just to feel like true royals. They want to erase their local roots. They want to sit in grand halls in Vienna, drinking expensive water, laughing with dukes and lords, completely forgetting the dirty streets of Larkana. When a leader refuses to marry within his own people and runs after foreign royalty, it proves he has zero respect for the nation he claims to love. He is basically saying, "My country is a garbage dump, and I want to escape it by marrying a white princess."

The Awam is Dying While the Rulers are Flying

Let us look at the dark reality of Pakistan today. Compare the shiny, happy rumors of this European wedding with the daily life of a normal Pakistani citizen. It makes your blood boil with anger.

  • The Electricity Trap: People are getting electricity bills that are higher than their monthly salaries. Fathers are crying because they have to choose between paying the bill or feeding their children.

  • The Food Crisis: A simple meal of lentils and bread is now a luxury. Meat is a dream. People are starving in their own homes.

  • The Hopeless Youth: Young, educated people have no jobs. They are leaving the country on dangerous boats, sometimes drowning in the sea, just to find a better life.

And what is our leadership doing? They are worried about finalizing wedding dates in the cool mountains of Switzerland and Austria. They are entirely blind to the pain of the public. They do not know what it feels like to stand in a line for cheap flour. They do not know the terror of a child falling sick when there is no money for medicine. The ruling class is living in a totally different world. To them, the Awam are just insects. The leaders enjoy full protocol, free petrol, free electricity, and foreign trips, while the public is crushed under heavy boots of taxes and inflation.

Cheap Excuses and Sisterly Dramas

When the anger on social media became too loud, the PPP got scared. They sent out their mouthpiece, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, to do damage control. He quickly tweeted that the news of the engagement and wedding was "incorrect and unfounded." But the public is not stupid anymore. We know how these things work. First, they test the waters. When the reaction is bad, they deny it. Even if the wedding is a rumor, the mindset is 100% real. We must not forget Bilawal's own arrogant words in the past. In 2016 and 2022, he joked in front of foreign media that any girl who wants to marry him will have to pass a "very difficult test" set by his sisters. This is pure feudal arrogance. Who do they think they are? The sisters sit in their safe, rich bubbles, deciding who is "good enough" for their brother, acting like queens of an empire. Do they put the same hard tests on the corrupt politicians and land grabbers in their party? No. The drama of the "sisterly veto" is just another way to show off their power and look down on everyone else.

The Final Betrayal: Time to Wake Up

At the end of the day, whether the Austrian wedding happens this year or not, the truth is out in the open. Our potent and powerful leaders do not care about Pakistan. They only care about what Pakistan can give them. They are landlords who live abroad and only come back to collect the rent. They use our public money for their European aiyashi. They sell our national dignity to look good in front of white foreigners. And they leave the Awam to die in the dirt. It is time for the people of Pakistan to wake up. Stop worshipping these fake princes. Stop cheering for people who steal your bread to buy their foreign castles. Until we throw away this corrupt, arrogant mindset, the poor will keep crying, and the rich will keep flying. What will it take for the Awam to finally stop voting for leaders who treat the national treasury as their personal wedding fund?
